Queenstown’s Bezu restaurant continues to shape a solid and skilled team with the appointment of Dan Whiteside as Assistant Bar and Restaurant Manager.
Promoted after four months of working as Duty Manager, Whiteside, 28 will support Ross Feeney in his new role as Bar and Restaurant Manager.
With 10 years experience, Whiteside has worked in competitive hospitality venues in Sydney and Manchester, including renowned French brasserie Chez Gerard where he was Assistant Manager for one year.
Bezu is owned by leading hospitality providers Frenzi Group. Frenzi director Roy Thompson said Whiteside’s role will include promoting Bezu as Queenstown’s best value quality restaurant.
“Bezu offers innovative, award-winning dining in stunning European style surroundings offering sophisticated yet casual service. We know Dan has the ability and charisma to support and promote the venue’s service and marketing components.”
Manchester-born Whiteside moved to New Zealand six months ago and plans to stay here at least for the duration of his two year working visa.
“I’m enjoying the Queenstown hospitality environment as it’s more relaxed than working in a big city,” said Whiteside. “The wine list at Bezu is superb and the food is fresh and locally sourced. It will be great to help to maintain these high standards in my new position.”
Bezu enjoyed recent success as national finalist for Best New Bar and Restaurant 2006/2007 at the HANZ awards for excellence and was awarded two gold plates by New Zealand Beef and Lamb Hallmark of Excellence.
Open from midday until late, Monday to Sunday, Bezu’s bar, brunch, lunch and dinner menus are the creation of Head Chef and General Manager Gary Clarke.
Frenzi Group started off in 1998 with Póg Mahones Irish Pub in Queenstown and has since grown to 13 bars & restaurants in prime locations in Auckland, Tauranga, Nelson, Christchurch and Queenstown, including Bezu.
