Freestyle skiing, snowboarding, motorbikes (FMX) and snowmobiling mixed with live music and top athletes from around the world make up the Coca Cola Cardrona Games, the largest snow sports event in New Zealand, held at Cardrona Alpine Resort on 2-4 September.
"It will be one big party for all involved," said Cardrona sales and marketing manager, Bruce McGechan. "As well as having the sport events such as Slopestyle, Half Pipe and Gravity-X we also entertain the crowd each day with a Snowmobile and FMX Big Air."
Olympic and X Games athletes will battle it out for prize money of $45,000.
Snowmobile and FMX Big Air drew large crowds last year and the same crew will be back this year to entertain Cardrona skiers and snowboarders. Chris Brown, extreme snowmobile rider from the US, will be using a special stunt snowmobile to do some extreme moves off a ramp beside the base facilities. "Last year we gave people a taste of what we could do, this year we’re really stepping it up", says Brown.
Last year the Coca Cola Cardrona Games was a standalone programme on TV3, as well as being covered on TV One News, TV3 News, and Sports Tonight. For pictures and information about last year’s Coca Cola Cardrona Games, visit www.cardronagames.co.nz.
