Reggae in the Gardens

As I write this, Queenstown sits at number 12 in a global competition that has 68 international cities vying for the top 20 allocated spots on the new Global Edition of Monopoly. Find out inside this week's edition on how to enter for the prize pack we've assembled to help promote Queenstown's chances of gaining a top spot. Also, we promote some of the local events that are coming up, and gossip about the rumours of the Night 'n Day's new location in Queenstown.

The team here at Queenstown.com have been heavily promoting the fact that you can vote for Queenstown to be included on the global edition of the new Monopoly board. We think that this is an awesome way of promoting Queenstown as a premium visitor destination, and to back this up, we're willing to give prizes out for those that help by voting for Queenstown. So, we've been busy pooling prizes from different sponsors to award to one lucky voter, and so far, the prize pool contains:

  • New World vouchers - $100
  • Tardis Bartab - $100
  • Fergburger vouchers - $30
  • Barup Bartab - $48
Queenstown.com Monopoly Competition

To enter this competition, all one must do is vote, and then continue on through to where you can refer your friends. If you place the This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it email address in the 'Your friend's email' box, we will be sent the referral email. But, seeing as we have no part of the official competition being run by Monopoly, we require you to fill in the 'Your friend's name' with your email address. Although it says to enter your friend's name, we have no way of telling who you are unless you attach your own email address there. If we draw you out as the winner, we will need to contact you via that email address, and that's why that step is important. You will not be eligible to win if we can't contact you.

The conditions for entry are quite simple, and there are some catches. This competition is only open to those who do not work for, or are related to, or are associated with any member of the Queenstown.com team. You also have to be able to come and collect the prize from the Queenstown.com office, so effectively, this is a strictly local competition, for locals only. We also don't have access to see if you actually voted for Queenstown, so if we draw you out as the winner, you will need to come down to our office, and let us witness you vote for Queenstown. For this reason, our competition will close on the 25th of February, 5 days before voting closes. Lastly, you will need to be a registered user of Queenstown.com, and you will need to prove this if you win. And that's it! The prize pool will continue to grow, so check back next week for further details.

Onto some local events, Reggae in the Park kicks off again this year on Waitangi day in the Queenstown Gardens. This is a free event run by RebelBassNZ and runs from 11am through to 7pm. This normally attracts quite a few people, so get down there quick for the better spots on the grass. Also, the weather forecast for Wednesday looks good, so don't forget to pack sunscreen, hats, and plenty of fluids. Wednesday also marks the start of the Weber Bros Circus at the Queenstown primary school. For further info on this event, please check our our events calendar.

Queenstown Skatepark construction continues

And lastly before I head off, rumours we've heard recently include the closure of Queenstown's Pizza Hut, you know, the ones who don't deliver, only to be replaced by the new Night 'n Day store. We'll confirm this when we hear more. And continuing on my theme of skatepark updates, here's the latest image in which you can see the shape of the park coming into play which is all very exciting. More photos next week, and until then, have fun in the sun,

Nathan - Queenstown.com Editor.
