Millbrook Link Track on schedule for completion by Christmas

The new Millbrook link track, near Arrowtown, is on schedule for a Christmas opening, Queenstown Lakes District Council community services general manager Paul Wilson said.

The track will open up a new cycling and walking corridor from Arrowtown to Lake Hayes.

"The track is being constructed through the new stage of Millbrook Resort and will connect through to Speargrass Flat Road, then through to Slopehill Road and Lake Hayes," Mr Wilson said.

It was a major piece in the construction of a trail from Arrowtown to Queenstown, including the pedestrian crossing of the restored, non-vehicular lower-Shotover bridge.

Meanwhile work on a short walking track that will link the boat ramp at Bayview reserve Kelvin Heights, with the end of Bayview Road got underway this week.

"The 150 metre walkway was identified in the Kelvin Heights network management plan and will prove a really useful and safe link track for cyclists and walkers," he said.

The track was being constructed by Fulton Hogan for a cost of $10,000.

"We hope the new track will be completed by the end of August, depending on weather conditions," Mr Wilson said.
