More than 70 snowboarders had a ball in fantastic spring conditions at Coronet Peak on Saturday (13 September) during the Quest Lib Tech Banked Slalom hosted by Coronet Peak.
Quest owner Anthony (Ants) Ruski-Jones says the Slalom is an annual event that’s about a fun day out and the glory of getting your name on the Legendary Trophy.
"75 people took part and enjoyed fantastic weather, soft snow and great entertainment. There was a strong crew over from Wanaka and a good bunch of spectators as well. Feedback was excellent so we know everyone went away happy."
Snowboarders of all ages took part. The youngest aged 10 and the oldest 51. Prize giving and a competitor lunch were held near the base of the Greengates Express chairlift with entertainment from DJ Nedstar via the Redbull Hummer rig parked nearby.
Ski Area Manager, Hamish McCrostie said the competitors really got into the spirit of the day with some people dressing up and everyone having fun.
"The event is about having a fun day out with your mates and sharing some competitive camaraderie on the slopes," he said. "It was a great course and a beautiful spring day."
Event sponsors included Quest, Coronet Peak, Lib Tech, Huffer, Jagermeister, Revolver Bar and Redbull.
