Add a personal touch to your Queenstown wedding by choosing a ceremony location that’s totally you! Here’s some top tips for choosing a Queenstown ceremony location that’s perfect just for you.
WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT FROM YOUR WEDDING CEREMONY?
Before you start googling, take some time out together to think about what you really want from your wedding ceremony location. Remember that in New Zealand you can have your wedding ceremony anywhere, and that your ceremony doesn’t necessarily have to take place at the same place as your reception venue. Make a list of your essential requirements so that you have a clear view of what you want and what you don’t want. Think about what’s really important to you for your big day.
NOW DO YOUR RESEARCH
You’ve got your Queenstown wedding venue check list and ready to begin the research. Online research is a great start to get an idea of what’s on offer in Queenstown. Check out venue websites, their social media accounts, and independent reviews. But you’ll need to dig a little deeper to get access to Queenstown’s hidden gems
ASK SOMEONE IN THE KNOW
Talk to someone you know who’s been to a wedding in Queenstown or got married here themselves- where and who do they recommend? You can also contact the local industry professionals such as caterers, photographers and celebrants for their thoughts and suggestions.
PAY A VISIT
Visiting the ceremony site in person allows you to get a true feel for the place. Does it look like the photos from the website or is it more dated and unkempt than you expected? If you can’t visit yourself then send someone you can trust to have a look around and take photos for you.
PRICING AND NEGOTIATING
Some Queenstown wedding venues offer an all-inclusive approach, whilst other offer you a blank canvas for you to put your own stamp on. Find out what you’re really getting for your money (get this in writing) and don’t be afraid to negotiate to get the best deal. Some wedding venue packages will include a planner, if not consider getting one- it’s always money well spent.
HAVE A BACK UP PLAN
This is a case of hoping for the best but planning for the worst as your NZ Marriage Licence is only valid at the two locations listed on it. Ideally your back up venue will not be on the same site as your preferred option in case the whole area is inaccessible. Your back up venue should be sheltered from any bad weather and although we’re all hoping you won’t need it, you’ll need to be comfortable there if it comes to it on the day.
IT’S YOUR BIG DAY
Remember that your Queenstown ceremony location should be all about you- it’s your big day after all! Focus on what’s important to you and how you want things to feel on your wedding day.
