So after the pell-mell tangle of hound and humankind has finished making the biggest, loudest mobile snowball in history, the shepherds bring their dogs back to town and aim to make an even bigger noise.
Crufts it's not.
The picturesque Village Green is normally associated with lunchtime diners enjoying the sunshine and the gentle burble of Horne Creek trickling by at their feet. On dog barking day you won't see a sunbather for dust.
The shepherds coax their furry friends into howling, yelping, barking and baying in the name of competition.
Naturally, the rest of the dogs don't like to be left out and within minutes there are children covering their ears and teachers making mental notes to show the class how to spell 'cacophony'.
