Summers Coming 2006/09/24 21:32 Karma: 6
Heres a quick hint for people just arriving in QT, but more importantly NZ. We have no ozone. So for all you Europeans who never wear hats and let their kids walking around naked at the beach.

We have special UV suits for kids and just a for more than 20 Minutes in the sun can see a light skined person crispy. Don't be fooled by the cool breeze that soothes your skin as it bakes.

....

Well it's probably not that bad, but you've been warned.

carry on.

Yes, it is that bad. I got sunburnt more in the first 2 weeks back in New Zealand, than I did for the 3 1/2 years that I was in Australia.

I'm gonna look for a UV index (burn time) thingo for the weather page.

We're coming to see you in Febrraury and we'll all bring our hats. We got loads of hats cos here in the UK you can lose 100% of your body heat out through your head by just opening the door to put the rubbish out. So yeah. We got hats and ozone but no sun.

http://www.physorg.com/news78309259.html

The patch of atmosphere is believed to have broken away from Antarctica, where the ozone layer is permanently thin. The amount of ozone is 23 percent lower than New Zealand's normal winter covering.
