So, once again thousands of people were thrilled by the Peregrine Fresh Air with bands Pig Out, Recloose, Kora and the headline act, Shapeshifter, turning on a truly magic performance. Well that's what I read anyway as I missed it. I had been grumbling all week about 'having' to go out to Paradise Valley, just past Glenorchy, to prepare the course for next weekends 9th Annual Paradise Plates Disc Golf Tournament. The preparations included marking out the course with red and orange ribbons, weed-eating the grass around the tees and holes, and just making sure everything was in order. Well, I quickly changed my tune.

It's a constant surprise when you see people saying certain things that you'd never normally hear, for example last week when I overheard someone say, "Yay, it's raining". You normally only hear comments like that in the middle of summer during the middle of a rather dry patch - Residents in Lake Hayes will be familiar with that, - or in the middle of winter, because rain in winter most often means snow! Speaking of snow, we finally have all the 2007 season pass prices for the local skifields. Who has the best value one wonders? Let us know by voting and commenting on the weekly poll - What skifield has the best value seasons pass?

Saturday the 17th of February saw the installation of 8 new pole holes (baskets) at the Frisbee golf course in the Queenstown Gardens, bringing an end to a series of major course upgrades which have taken place over the last 4 months. Following meetings with QLDC Parks Manager, the improvements to the course are inline with the councils Queenstown Gardens Management Plan. With a lot of donated time, money and equipment Queenstown now has Frisbee Golf course that is, as one person described “very shiny”.

So far, February is shaping up to be a fantastic month. Those of you who have been out in the sun will know this fact. It seems as though our long lost friend, Summer, is finally here. Yes, I've mentioned that in a previous edition, but this time, it's for real. Our weather station that's located on Hallenstein St recorded the highest temperature this year back on Waitangi Day. I personally think that will be broken some time this afternoon!
And, last Friday the Black Caps beat Australia by 10 wickets - which has never happened to the Aussies before, and yesterday we successfully chased 336 runs! And get this - 47 of the overs bowled were bowled by players going to the world cup. Ouch!!

Greetings readers, and welcome once again to our weekly editorial. I hope everyone had a splendid weekend, the team here got away for a much needed break after the expo, camping out on the otherside of the Lake. On that note, happy birthday Mindy and thanks for the great party. The QBN business expo has been and gone, and I'd like to thank everyone who popped over and introduced themselves, and I also hope those that got out to Millbrook to see Bic And Bo Runga, that you had a great time too.
