The Queenstown.com Weekly
Autumn at Arrowtown's Wilcox Green

Autumn is well and truly upon us. There's a wide variety of golden leaves brilliantly colouring the Wakatipu Basin, and we also got the first real snowfall of the year. In this week's edition, I highlight the mini-media battle that has emerged between the Mountain Scene and the Lakes Weekly Bulletin, who have both recently expanded their operations. Some of us eagerly await this week's Mountain Scene to see if they apologise over their main headline last week, and I announce the zero waste award winners and detail the compost subsidy offered by the QLDC. And lastly, as we head towards $2 a litre petrol, one can only speculate on the affect it will have on local tourism operators and the outlook for Queenstown's future.

Queenstown Skate Park Uprgrades

After taking last week off to move house and getting some long overdue time off, here is the latest edition of the Queenstown.com weekly. In this edition, we urge everyone to keep an eye out for a missing tourist, Liat Okin of Israel. A photo and description can be found by clicking 'read more'. Also, I issue a correction in regards to some lingering doubts raised about the fundraising efforts made by the WSA in regards to the Queenstown Skate Park. And lastly, approval is given for Queenstown's highest bungy, but will it make it out of the environmental court alive?

Coronet Peak Upgrades continue - May take a while to load

This week's edition of the Queenstown.com Weekly takes a look at how the Coronet Peak upgrades are going, as evidenced by the above image, and one can only imagine the ammount of work that is going into making Coronet future proof. We also have the latest information on the Queenstown Aquatic Centre, specifically when it opens and how much it's cost so far. We also have an update on this year's Gay Ski Week, the Kelvin Heights 'Farewell Summer' BBQ, and we announce the establishment of the Board of Trustees for the new Frankton Primary School which aims to open it's doors in 2010.

New Robins Road, same old parking

Easter is the new silly season and ignorance is bliss, and it doesn't only affect people who came to Queenstown, but most of the places I visited during my time away. Good Friday continued to be the shambles that it is, yesterday's Qantas flight into Queenstown was redirected because of an aging fleet, a local publication wildly speculated about the Southern Basin's oil reserves, and the provincial rugby team floundered. Also, the Warbirds over Wanaka proved successful, the 6 day fire was finally extinguished, and Queenstowners continued to pay extra at the petrol pump.

Queenstown Skatepark construction continues

Welcome to the Queenstown.com Weekly. It is with an element of sadness that we bid a farewell to one of the team here and wish Brooks good luck on his future travels to which I'll elaborate on inside this edition. Also, we've got the latest on the skatepark and the funding that may be heading it's way, a reminder of when daylight savings starts. And to top it off, we have the headlines for the week that's been.
