How is Climate Change likely to impact on the Southern Lakes District?

The fantastic weather we've had of late has continued, making great golfing conditions and a truly awesome start to summer. On the golfing topic, we say goodbye to the Michael Hill New Zealand Golf Open and wish it to be just as successful in 2008. On the Queenstown.com front, we have drawn the winners of last weeks Tardis bar tab, and the Barup cocktail competitions, and announce this weeks question. Also, we talk about Friday's comedy night at Revolver, we highlight QLDC's continual fumbling of the Queenstown Skate Park, and detail the Climate Change seminar being held on Sunday the 9th of December.

QLDC heralds fantastic start to Wakatipu Kerbside Recycling

Mother Nature has well and truly come to the party over the last fortnight blessing the region with some truly fantastic weather, giving us all an inkling of what is in store over the next few months. And with the warmer weather comes a welcome return to the local farmers market held at the Queenstown Primary School. We detail the first outing inside this edition. We also hit back at Warren Coopers recycling stance by packing in some statistics, and announce last weeks winner of the Barup Cocktail prize.

Reflecting on the Queenstown Gardens Pond

In truly ironic fashion, one of the great distance holes at the Queenstown Gardens frisbee golf course, affectionately known as 'Windy Way', is now only playable when in fact it's windy. I'll tell you why inside this edition. Also, we look at what made headlines last week, annouce the winner of our new weekly poll, and detail our newest section on the site - 'Opinion'.

T.S.S. Earnslaw - Lady of the Lake

It's been two weeks since my last update and during that time, the following things have happened. We have the same Mayor, record attendance at the JazzFest, construction of the Skatepark begins (finally), kerbside recycling kicks off, a paraglide punter pukes in our backyard, we have better snow than we did mid-season, and a whole lot of rain. Also, we check out the Underwater Observatory and the T.S.S. Earnslaw.

The Remarkables, 6th October, 2007

Well, the All Blacks jokes have been flooding in thick and fast and despite all this, I still love the All Blacks. Although we didn't come away with the World Cup, we are still regulary the number one team in the world, and this is still something to be proud of. Let's hope for a fantastic Rugby World Cup in New Zealand during 2011, and let's also hope for a game or two in Queenstown at least. And let's also hope for a fantastic ski season in 2008 after the snow at the Remarks made for an almost perfect end to the ski season.
