Fresh Fish and Chips by the Lake
There is something so satisfying about eating fish and chips by the water. To ensure you have the ultimate experience of this, you best get to Erik’s Fish and Chips and eat them by Lake Wakatipu. This humble fish and chip van creates some very tasty food.
There are three different fish to choose from. Hoki, Dory and Blue Cod. They are all found in the South Island. Dory has such a subtle flavour so it is a good option for everyone. The texture is smooth and the light batter has a lovely crunch. Blue Cod is the favourite for locals in Queenstown and Wanaka. It has a stronger flavour and a flaky texture, equally as delicious. You can get a fillet of Hoki or order the Fish Bites for more of a snack size meal.
Erik’s calamari has to be mentioned. It is thick cut and has the crunchiest batter. The calamari itself is beautifully tender. If that’s not enough for your taste buds, dip the calamari into the garlic aioli; a flavour explosion.
You can also get fried oysters, scallops and mussels. When battered and fried the texture changes and the flavours become stronger. What is even more exciting is that as of March 1st it is oyster season which means oysters at Erik’s Fish and Chips are at their prime. I highly recommend you join the crowds to try these.
Erik’s Fish and Chips offer delicious fresh produce, crispy coatings and something to satisfy every member of the family. Tasty fish and chips with affordable prices, you can’t go wrong!
