Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use a small number of them to keep the site working and to remember your choices, and — only if you agree — to measure how the site is used and to support advertising.
Analytics and advertising cookies are optional. We ask on your first visit, they are two separate choices, and advertising is never switched on unless you switch it on. You can change your mind at any time — see Your choices.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
- Authentication — when you sign in, secure session cookies (
sb-access-token,sb-refresh-token) keep you logged in. The site cannot function as an account experience without these. - Consent — we store your cookie-consent choice locally so we don’t ask again on every visit.
Functional
- Remembering preferences such as filters or recently viewed items, where applicable.
Analytics — optional, only with your consent
- Google Analytics 4 (
_ga,_ga_*) — measures pages viewed, referrers and in-app events so we can see what people use and improve it. Set by Google as a processor on our behalf.
Advertising and audience — optional, off unless you switch it on
- Google signals and Google advertising cookies (
_gcl_*, and cookies set by Google on its own domains) — lets us recognise you across devices, see aggregate demographics and interests, and build remarketing audiences so we can advertise Queenstown.com to you elsewhere.
This is a separate choice from analytics, it is not pre-ticked, and unlike analytics it is never on by default in any country. Accepting analytics does not accept advertising.
Your choices
If you decline, we still count your visit in an aggregate, cookie-free way — no identifiers are stored on your device and you are not recognised between visits or across devices. If you withdraw consent, we stop collecting and remove the relevant cookies from your device; data already collected beforehand is not undone by withdrawing.
To control what Google associates with your own Google account, use My Ad Center. That is Google’s control, not ours, and it applies across every site — not just this one.
Separately, if you have an account, you can stop analytics being linked to it at all — see the Privacy section of your profile settings. That control is independent of the cookie choices above, and either one refusing is honoured.
Third-party services
When you follow a booking link to a partner (e.g. Viator, Expedia, Trivago), that partner may set its own cookies under its own policy. Affiliate referrals are tracked via link parameters rather than cross-site cookies on our side.
Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from staying signed in. You can also clear the consent choice by clearing this site’s storage in your browser.
